What is a Neighbourhood House?
Neighbourhood Houses are local organisations providing accessible social, recreational and educational activities for their local communities. There are more than 400 neighbourhood houses in Victoria. Neighbourhood Houses are welcoming, inclusive and supportive environments offering activities and events to respond to the needs of their communities. Some of the activities held at Neighbourhood Houses can include: art and craft classes, community lunches, community morning teas, cooking classes, community gardens, digital literacy support, food relief, health and well being activities such as yoga and meditation, book swaps, referrals, venue hire and volunteering opportunities.
Darley Neighbourhood House
DNH has been serving our community for many years providing various courses and activities and is always evolving to meet the changing needs of our thriving community.
Mosaics, quilting, cooking, meditation, yoga and painting are just a few of the activities that have run here over the years. The centre also hosts many community and support groups on a regular basis and has well equipped rooms for hire at very reasonable rates.

DNH is a not for profit community-based organisation and is governed by a volunteer Committee of Governance and managed by a team of vibrant and enthusiastic staff.
What do we offer?
DNH is committed to providing a diverse range of opportunities for the local community. Individuals and groups are strongly encouraged to get involved at DNH. There are many offerings and services provided and these include; Classes and courses, Community Events, Community Information, Venue Hire, Community Pantry, Digital Literacy Support, Little Library Book Swap.

Darley Neighbourhood House has zero tolerance of child abuse, and all allegations and safety concerns will be treated seriously and consistently with our robust policies and procedures . We recognise our duty of care and responsibilities to children and always act in the best interests of children. We understand our legal and moral obligations to contact authorities when we are worried about a child’s safety, which we follow rigorously.

supporting and respecting all children, as well as our staff, volunteers and community.
the cultural safety of Aboriginal children, the cultural safety of children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds, and to providing a safe environment for children with a disability.
identifying child abuse risks early, and acting to prevent, remove or reduce these risks.
regular training and education for Committee members, staff and volunteers on child abuse risks , and child safety strategies.
robust human resources and recruitment practices to reduce the risk of child abuse by new and existing board members, staff and volunteers.
policies and procedures which support our board members , staff and volunteers to achieve these commitments.
continuously monitor and improve our Child Safe policies, procedures, and training.
